Nail Decals x Oral Communication

Our Oral Com teacher gave us interesting homework this week. We had to make a How To video. Now, the reason I had a weird iPad shot (Which was really unnecessary.) is because my prof told me to use our iPads to record ourselves. I had a perfectly working High Definition camera at my disposal, why would I want to use my 5mpx iPad to record my How To??? But I didn't want to completely disregard her rule. So, I still used my iPad just incase she brings it up.

If you get bored during the middle, don't worry, it gets better. Also I'm so sorry for the over cut-ins. I wanted to make it as short and as funny as I could muster!

Excuse my weirdness.

Perspectives

And we have a winner! Okay, remember that post I did about Something special? Well just a recap, that whole photo-set got scrapped because those were too easy. But moving on, I was challenged to do something artistically challenging. Capturing a different side of my subjects in black and white. I know, it's so easy to take an annoyingly self proclaimed dramatic or deep photo by just changing the mode of your camera. I say that with the utmost sarcasm I have in every bone of my body. But let me just say: It is unbelievably hard to capture true emotion and the heart of a person in a black and white photo because it there is no color to work with. Color can do so much to add to the feel, and depth of a photo.

This collection is called Perspective, because the idea is to give the viewers a different perspective of the people on the photographs.

Essentially I asked each subject a bunch of questions, until we all got a little bit more comfortable for me to ask about their life story etc. Although they knew that I was taking pictures, I gave them at least 30 minutes each to get comfortable infront of the camera and the blinding light. With that said, those photos up there are all candid shots.

This next set wasn't supposed to be with the first set. I took an accidental one of Charles and I really liked the effect of it. Also it fit into my concept of Perspective. The photo looked dramatically better when I rotated it to the right, also we got a high grade for our finals. - Happy Dance! -

These are also all raw photos in terms of facial photoshopping. The only photoshopping involved was to sharpen the photo, and that's it. I'm really proud of this set.

With this set came a photo collage of almost all our pictures and a few videos compiled into one whole video. Enjoy!

Enrolling + Fun

Just this Monday, we went to my school to go enroll. This was the only photo I could take at the moment because I'm still trying to get the feel of the environment. Frankly I was shy! But it felt so right to be there.

Good news: My classes are only 3 times a week. So I won't be as busy!

LADIES AND GENTS, I AM NOW A LEGIT MINT STUDENT! WOOOOOHOOOO. *le happy dance* Can't wait to go to school!!

My family and I went to Bonifacio High Street after for some lunch.

We ate at Oliver's Super Sandwiches. In my opinion their sandwiches aren't only Super, they are THE BOMB.

I got the Grilled Almond Cajun Chicken-- And it was Amazeballs.

I like how they just serve their drinks in big white plastic cups.

My Mum and I went to fully booked and HOLY MOOSE THAT PLACE IS HUGE.

It was like Book heaven. Book Mall. Book world. Book universe. The place was crawling with books, and the place smelled like that new-book-smell that I loved so much. I tried to go around everywhere, and I felt so overwhelmed, and absurdly happy.

They even had White Hat and Starbucks inside!! (ok fine i'm so late, but my family and I don't really hang out in this part of town. Lol)

It was a nice day out, and its just great to feel like I'm finally going to school. I'm so happy!

Alright, alright. I know I haven't been doing this as much as I want to and I'm sorry. I have no excuse!!

But i'm picking up on it again and I will try to continue doing it on a going out basis. Haha.

At Fully booked. Can't take pictures in there so I had to look for a remote area in the store. Lol

At the room perfume thinggy store. Lol

Crazy thing: I was re-reading my blog from the very first post, and I saw this one post that had a photo of an elephant's butt. What's worse is that it's discarding a massive amount of poo.

I DID NOT POST THAT FREAKING PHOTO. Imageshack must've messed up my links because I never, nor will I ever take a photo of an elephant pooping. And right infront of me no less!
(well I did take a photo of an ostrich pooping once, but that was in a zoo and I was a child, and I thought it was funny.)

The photo was supposed to be a number 7, for 7 days till christmas.

I even said "I hope it's not too late to say.. *photo of a pooping elephant* DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!!!"

Not cool.

I fixed it, but managed to take a screen cap before I did. Lol

Mint!

I haven't told you guys this, but I'm finally going to school!!!

I'm going to Mint, short for Meridian International. It's a Business, Arts, & Technology College.
They were on the news one day and my Mum looked them up, turns out they had an online test and I took it. The next day, they e-mailed me saying I passed the test. Its insane! I'm sooo happy!!

I looked through their site probably a thousand times, soaking it all in. It wasn't until I went to the school itself that I finally believed it. It was then that I applied for a scholarship. I would've given them my credentials if I had them, but since I was home schooled it was a little complicated. So I gave them my art.

I showed them my magazine articles, and my cover pages. They were very impressed with my work, and they said that it was my edge. My selling point. And that they'd fight for me infront of the board. I felt so warm and fuzzy inside. And a few weeks ago, I got the call and they said they granted my scholarship application. I'm so stoked! (yii naks scholar)

The facilities were amazing, its so brilliant, and bright, and modern. And I love the fact that the classrooms are all well lit by huge clear windows. I'm in awe, and inspired. And just can't wait to go.

I'm taking New Media Arts, if you're wondering. Its basically a mix of Photography, 3D Animation, Digital Art, Digital Entertainment, Web design etc.

And to top this all off: Each student gets a standard issue iPad 2.

Droooling yet? heh.

I'm just so thankful to God for giving me this opportunity. I basically skimmed through that test all panicked and scared and yet I passed. I believe this is His will for me and I'm willingly choosing this path. And when I got the call for the scholarship, right before the call I was so down and crying and just really sad (don't ask), and just praying I'd get that scholarship soon, I got the call and my tears of sadness turned into tears of joy. I was so ecstatic and God just gives the best "its okay" hugs ever. Its just such an answered prayer, and in a matter of minutes!

Now all I have to do is enroll and school starts November. I'm so excited!!!
